Events We Feature Throughout the School Year
| As a member of our homeschool support group, you and your family are entitled to attend all of our great events. We will also have a few events that will be “open” to the public for those who may not be members yet and want to just come once or twice to see how we do things. For details (dates, times, locations, etc.) on any of the following items please check our current newsletter or send us an e-mail request and one of us will get back to you within a few days. |
Park Days |
Park Days are held monthly and are our primary gathering for the
group. They are a time for fellowship, lunch (bring your own) and playground activities for the kids. The whole family is invited to these gatherings, grandparents too. For more information on our Park Days, please click here. |
Field Trips |
Many field trips are held every school year. They are too numerous to
list here, but check our monthly newsletter
for a complete list of field trips currently being offered. |

Parents Events |
Mom’s Night Out Several times a year our moms leave the kids with dad for the evening and get together for fellowship, friendship and blessings. Past events have included some very yummy deserts, so dieters beware! |
Men’s Night Out Several times a year the dads get together for an evening and do “manly things” like sitting down for some Monday Night Football, hitting a bucket of balls, paintball, boardgames, or just watching cheesy movies. |
Parent’s Night Out Get a sitter for the kids. The parents are all going out together. This event is a great way to get to know the other couples in the group. |
Mom's Bible Study The homeschool moms get together for a topical bible study every Thursday afternoon. In the past the topic has been on prayer using the workbook "Living a Praying Life". This year there will be various new and exciting topics. |
| Parties |
Back to School Party A great time to get together with other homeschoolers and ring in the beginning of a new homeshool year. This is the first of our major events every year and SDCH is happy to offer this a free blessing to our membership. If you've not yet joined SDCH, you may fill out a membership form and pay your membership fee at the event (forms provided). |
Christmas Party A semi-formal occaision in which we gather to celebrate the birth of our savior. This event includes a catered dinner, portrait photography, entertainment and gift exchange for the children. The Christmas party is offered free to our members. Click here for coverage of our 2007 party. |
Valentine Exchange At Park Day in February we encourage the children to remember the Lord's command that you love one another, through the act of exchanging valentines. |
Bunco Party Bunco is an easy and entertaining group game played with dice. The children enjoy getting together for snacks and laughs at this party. |
End of Year Party This party is the wind-down event of school year and we always like to go out with a bang. Bring the entire family and enjoy a great barbeque, traditional outdoor games and prizes. It is held on the weekend, so you can bring the whole family, and is a great opportunity to say "see you next year" to all of your friends. |
Special Events |
Pool Days Held throughout the summer and during the warmer parts of the school year, pool days are fun for the whole family. The gatherings are held at a community-sized 9-foot deep pool with an additional 1-foot deep kiddie-safe pool for the little ones. |
Game Nights Studies show playing board games brings friends and families closer together and increases the brain’s learning ability. Family unity and education… that’s good homeschooling! The whole family is welcome to attend. RSVP’s are encouraged but not necessary. |
